Parties Overseeing and Monitoring and Their Responsibilities
Principal: The person responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all the department’s work. Ensures goals are achieved, delegates tasks necessary to achieve planned outcomes to relevant parties, ensures completion by those parties, and monitors the process.
ICP Committee: The body that provides consultation for decisions related to preparing students’ ICPs (Individualized Care Plans) and ensuring the inclusion of all students. The committee comprises the Principal, Leading Teachers, SEN Teacher, and one teacher appointed by the Principal.
SEN Teacher: Responsible for teaching students with special educational needs, planning other necessary activities for these students, and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to participate in all school-run activities.
Involved Parents/Guardians: Responsible for obtaining the necessary support and cooperation from the parent body to carry out the department’s activities. They also monitor the progress of initiatives from the parents’ perspective. This group includes 1 or 2 parents/guardians from each of the Foundation Stage, Primary, and Secondary levels.
Planned Activities
Workshop on Inclusive Teaching (including sessions for parents/guardians and students).
Assess all students within the first 3 weeks, create Individualized Support Plans (ISPs) for identified students, and begin implementing these plans from the 5th week.
Establish a system for weekly communication with students receiving support under the Individualized Support Plan and their parents/guardians (including developing guidelines for meetings and a reporting format).
Install a message board related to Inclusive Education on the school premises (potentially linked to Family Day).
Conduct an activity, open to all school stakeholders and the public, regarding the different aspects of inclusion and ways to provide support for these areas.
Introduce a Buddy System.
Establish an SEN classroom and acquire the necessary resources for it (potentially linked to Family Day).
